WEEK 7 Scene Update & Personal Crit

As there is a mural submission due I thought this would be a good time to do an overall review of the current stage of my scene.

To begin I have reconstructed my entire scene, so every asset has been replaced and placed around my combined blockout that was originally imported in unreal. So it now properly utilizes my modular kit meaning any changes made to a wall for example will update every instance of that mesh. Speeding up my ability to make mass changes and is the industry standard workflow.

This update also included my tiling floor texture and wood trim. Most of which is either too dark or hidden by the staircase. But very satisfied that I finally managed to get a wood texture in the scene that I am happy with, after MUCH trial and error.

There has also been an overhaul to my lighting setup. I do feel this is still FAR too dark in many places. Which may also be due to the wood material itself being very dark, creating even more of a light consuming void. This is made especially clear when I desaturate and slightly increase contrast of the scene. The overall light shapes of the scene are interesting but absolutely need some more balancing which will help the entire left side from getting lost (as that currently uses mostly the same tone)

But overall figuring out the light rays from the window and some basic Niagara system particles has really elevated the overall feel.

Moving forward I need to focus my attention on high impact sections, I have found myself bouncing around between too many aspects, not really completing any, massively limiting my overall momentum. Working on props and smaller pieces whilst important has really displayed how jarringly incomplete big elements are and ultimately made progress seem very little since those first few weeks. My next main focus points need to be:

Tiling Ceiling Material

Tiling Painted Wall Material

Coving/ Cornice Trim

Main Newel Posts (Complete with sculpted acorn topper)

So am committed to that being my next post... As always any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.
