PEER REVIEWS & FEEDBACK

This week it was time for my first Peer Review. This session was run by Louise Crouch and Tom Copp and their feedback was as follows:

Unreal Render: Current Version of Project

The overall level of geometry and detail is fine but certain areas could do with more i.e.: around curves notably on my placeholder elements such as the signs and main bay window.

Whilst this would be fine on extremely optimised projects this project can afford the higher polycount.

For the Walls:

The addition of an extra protruding brick asset that could be hand placed on the walls would help break up the monotonous texture and add some more intrigue to otherwise bland element, plus Unreal's lighting would pick these out.

Using Vertex Painting or decals would also be effective in breaking up the brick texture.

Various UV's could do with some standardising, most obviously on the chimneys where the bricks are the wrong way.

The dust texture on the glass of the door has a strange edge. This was caused by that material not having a metalness level, opposed to the glass which does thus a harsh edge is made. Which can be rectified by just adding some metalness to the dust.

But overall the project is at a good point and details like these will help bring it together.

I was also aware I needed to setup and use Trim Sheets on this project so asked for some tips from Louise and Tom on how these could be used which will be my next job.
